Big news from southern Arizona 🌵✨

This week Chiricahua National Monument officially became Chiricahua National Park, the 64th national park in the USA and Arizona’s fourth after Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest and Saguaro.

Once called the Land of Standing-Up Rocks and later the “Wonderland of Rocks”, Chiricahua is a jaw-dropping forest of towering volcanic spires set in the traditional homeland of the Chiricahua Apache. It’s been protected since 1924, but national park status now puts it firmly on the bucket list map.

For our Aussie travellers – pair this stop with Tucson, Saguaro National Park, Tombstone and Bisbee for a self-drive that goes well beyond the classic Grand Canyon circuit.
