Bushfires have been ravaging Australia’s rural communities for months, devastating towns, communities, livelihoods and wildlife. Since September, at least 20 people have died, over 1,500 homes have been destroyed and over 12 million acres of land burnt. The scale of the threat is immense, and fires continue to burn.
Visit USA Australia encourages our members and partners to support any way they can – financial, material or through awareness. Your support will make a difference during this national crisis, and as these communities rebuild.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
A number of organisations and volunteer services are aiding in the firefighting and recovery efforts for affected communities. Whether you want to help the firefighting organisations, displaced families & communities or wildlife, we’ve listed some links and information below:
- Australia’s Red Cross Disaster relief and recovery fund helps support evacuation centres and recovery programs for the affected communities
- Givit is a not-for-profit organisation that cares for those in need by letting you donate goods it then passes on. It accepts items or money at its donation page.
- The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) helps to restore the lost habitats and care for our precious wildlife. Donations can be made through their website.
- Actor and comedian Celeste Barber is running a fundraiser for the Trustee for NSW Rural Fire Service and Brigades donations fund. You can donate on the fundraiser’s Facebook page.
- A useful resource if you want to buy products from rural communities is Australia’s Buy From The Bush. It highlights creators and artists from regional Australia you can buy from as they face drought and now bushfire.
Thank you for your support.
